Miami-Dade Democratic Party Slams Ron DeSantis for playing politics with public health crisis

Declaring WWE Wrestling an essential business looks like worst kind of pay-to-play politics

MIAMI, FL: Miami-Dade Democratic Party Chair Steve Simeonidis slammed Gov. Ron DeSantis for declaring WWE Wrestling an essential business while WWE owner and former SBA Administrator Linda McMahon’s Super PAC “America First” announced an $18.5 million ad buy in Florida on behalf of Donald Trump’s reelection.

“Ron DeSantis should be focused on getting our frontline healthcare workers the equipment they need and fixing our state’s broken unemployment system so that workers can get the help they need,” Simeonidis said. “Instead we have what appears to be the worst kind of swamp behavior, and pay-to-play politics.”

Miami-Dade Democratic Party Hails Surge in Vote-By-Mail Numbers in Florida Primary

Party Encourages Democrats to Enroll in Vote By Mail for August Primary

MIAMI, FL: While Republicans usually outpace Democrats in Vote-By-Mail, this year, Miami-Dade Democratic turnout surpassed Republican turnout in all categories of Vote-By-Mail, Early Voting, and Election Day numbers, a good indication of Democratic enthusiasm.

Despite concerns about the novel coronavirus depressing voter turnout in Florida’s Presidential Preference Primary on March 17, the Miami-Dade Democratic Party hailed the results as vindication in its efforts to enroll ever higher numbers of Democrats in Vote-By-Mail. Some 59,327 Democrats cast ballots by mail in the 2020 presidential primary, a strong increase from the 50,536 ballots cast by mail in 2016.

Blue Forum & Fair Postponed Due to Concerns Over Coronavirus

Event Was To Take Place on Sunday, March 15

MIAMI FL: The Miami-Dade Democratic Party has indefinitely postponed the planned Blue Forum & Fair over concerns about the spread of coronavirus in large groups. The Blue Forum & Fair was scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 15 at the Firefighters Memorial Building, in Doral, Florida, and had been expected to draw hundreds of Democrats from across Miami-Dade County.

“New cases are being reported every day in Florida,” stated Steve Simeonidis, chair of the Miami-Dade Democratic Party. “It is very likely that the reported cases are a severe undercount, and so out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to postpone the Blue Forum & Fair.”

The Party will be refunding ticket-buyers by the end of the week.
