On Monday, February 18, 2019, Steve Simeonidis was elected as the new Chair of the Miami-Dade Democratic Party.

Meet Steve at the legislative send-off on Thursday, February 28th at Gramps

Through his involvement with community organizations, including this DEC (Democratic Executive Committee of Miami-Dade) and various Democratic clubs and candidates, he developed a passion to serve the residents and volunteers who are anxious for change. Steve recently served as the President of the Miami-Dade Young Democrats and as General Counsel for this DEC in addition to other organizations. He also sits on the Miami-Dade Commission on Human Rights, a quasi-judicial body responsible for adjudicating appellate level human rights claims.

Elections for Chair of the Miami-Dade Democratic Party

On Monday, February 18th, the Miami-Dade Democratic Party's executive committee will hold elections for a new Chair of the party. The Chair serves as leader of the local party, working with local clubs and leaders to engage and inform voters around important issues and elections.

Representing 600K+ voters, Miami-Dade has the largest number of registered Democrats of any county in Florida.

We thank Juan Cuba for his dedication as Chair for the past two years. After stepping down, a number of qualified candidates have come forward to run for the position. The candidates participated in a forum on Friday, February 8th at the Frankie Shannon Rolle Center.

The election will take place at the next Democratic Executive Committee meeting. These meetings are open to the public, but only members of the committee elect the Chair. Newcomers are welcome to attend and learn more about becoming a member. The meeting will take place on Monday, February 18th at 6pm at the Fire Fighters Memorial Building, located at 8000 NW 21st St.
