Party Chair Steve Simeonidis: Trumps Latest Disgrace Is Hosting the G7 At His Doral Property

The Trump Administration recently announced that the G7 summit will be held at his Doral property.  Instead of picking a location based on security priorities and one that strains local infrastructure and traffic the least, the President once again chose to use his office to enrich himself and help his failing businesses.  He continues to profit off the presidency through numerous conflicts of interest and has wasted tens of millions of dollars traveling to his own properties and golf courses.  Taxpayer dollars will flow right into his pockets, and security will be paid for by Miami-Dade taxpayers.

Miami-Dade Dems Call on Republican Party to Condemn Mass Shooting Video Shown at Trump's Doral Resort

Today, the Miami-Dade Democratic Party called on the Miami-Dade Republican Party and all of the Miami-Dade Republican elected officials to denounce, in no uncertain terms, the horrific video played at the American Priorities Festival hosted at Trump Doral Resort. The video, which played on each day of the conference, depicted the President gruesomely shooting members of the media and others, including former President Barack Obama.

“You would think that after Pulse and Parkland, those who attended this event would be shocked and appalled by the suggestion of the President of the United States committing a mass shooting. Instead, they decided to take selfies and made no mention of what we all know they saw” said Executive Director Aaron Bos-Lun.

Aaron Bos-Lun: Three-pronged strategy to turn Florida Blue in 2020

It’s been a little over two months since I started as the Executive Director of the Miami-Dade Democratic Party. Just like the phrase, “all roads lead to Rome,” our local Democratic Party is operating under an “all roads lead to 2020” mentality. The stakes could not be higher: if Miami-Dade goes heavily blue, Florida goes blue. No Republican has won the White House without Florida in over 100 years, so without Florida... Donald Trump is a one-term President.

We have a three-pronged strategy to make it happen: voter engagement, organizing, and candidate recruitment/support.

Miami-Dade Democrats Support Speaker Pelosi Opening Impeachment Inquiry

The Miami-Dade Democratic Party applauds the leadership of Speaker Nancy Pelosi in initiating an impeachment inquiry against Donald Trump and Party Chair Steve Simeonidis released the following statement:

“The latest realization, even by the standards of the Trump Presidency, suggests deeply un-American behavior.  The leader of our country withheld $400 million in military aid to Ukraine, days before pressuring their President to investigate the son of his political opponent.  President Trump has admitted publicly, if not proudly, that he has attempted to get the Ukrainian government to ‘dig up dirt’, or even make up dirt, on Hunter Biden.  For the President of the United States to pressure a foreign government to act against an American citizen is unconscionable.  To do so as part of an effort to undermine a political opponent is beyond unprecedented and requires the strongest response within our Constitutional system to check the power of a would-be tyrant.

No one is above the law.  We are proud of our South Florida Congressional Representatives Donna Shalala, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz for standing with the Speaker.  We implore Republicans to think of how history will view them, and to use their power to uphold their oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

Steve Simeonidis: It's on us to organize and engage over 600,000 Democrats in Miami-Dade

There are few events in the history of our country where everyone can remember where they were and what they were doing when it happened. Donald Trump’s election is one of them. In the last century, no Republican has won the White House without winning Florida. Only once in the last 60 years has the winner of Florida not gone on to win the White House. As the largest county in the largest swing state in the nation, Miami-Dade is the most important county in the country when it comes to denying him a second term. It is on us to lead the charge.
