vote NO on SB1048
Tomorrow, while students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas rally on the Capitol steps, the Senate will vote on SB 1048. This bill will allow guns on property owned, rented, or leased by a religious institution even if the institution is located in a “sensitive area” where concealed carry is normally not permitted.
Send your legislator an email by completing the petition below.
Dear Senator --
It's been over 600 days since Pulse and over 1800 days since Sandy Hook. It's been less than a week since the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Our community demands action! We want safer gun laws.
We ask you to VOTE NO on Senate Bill 1048. This bill allows guns on property owned, rented, or leased by religious institutions, regardless of where that is.
We do not need more laws that encourage the proliferation of more firearms. More guns do not make us more safe.
Vote NO on SB1048!
Thank you for your help in stopping this bad legislation! If you have time, I also encourage you to call your State Senators. You can find the full list of Senators here. There are two key Miami-Dade legislators that can swing this vote and that is Republicans Rene Garcia (850) 487-5036 and Anitere Flores (850) 487-5039.
