Luis Fernando Atencio Polo

Why I'm running: "It is time that we assert ourselves as Democrats in both Miami-Dade County and in Florida. In my opinion, we have to listen thoroughly to our voters but also to those that did not vote for us so that we may craft a broad, easy to digest message that we can all replicate. I believe it is time we define ourselves and not let others do that job for us. Miami-Dade needs local leaders who are representative of our community, willing to listen to all of our Democrats and independents and propose steps to fliping our county blue once again.I will do my best both locally and at the state level with FDP to make this happen. "

Bio: I am a Venezuelan political activist specializing in immigration and Latino community issues. I earned a degree in Business Administration with a minor in Management from Universidad Metropolitana in Caracas, Venezuela. My professional experience includes roles with the Venezuelan National Assembly an educational startup and political campaigns. In the United States, he contributed to the Charlie Crist for Governor Campaign and serves as a Senior Fellow at the Venezuelan-American Caucus. I have provided analysis on political developments, particularly concerning U.S. immigration policies and national politics on Univision, Telemundo, America TV, Actualidad Radio, MegaTV and more. Moderate Democrat that is willing to listen to different points of views with an open mind and plan for reasonable ways to show that we are connected with voters concerns and day to day lives. Miami Heat Fan.

Maribel Balbin

Why I'm running: I’m running because I consider this a critical time for the Democratic Party and I would like to contribute to the work that would be necessary to move the Party forward. I believe that rebuilding and developing winning strategies, that would not just bring in new members, but also engage Dems that have become disenchanted with the Party, should be a priority. I look forward to doing the work that would produce more democratic voters and democratic elected officials at the local, state and national level. A strong Democratic Party is essential for a strong Democracy, and I’m committed to make that happen.

Bio: Maribel Balbin has a storied history of advocacy and activism. Most recently served as Seniors and Labor Vote Director for the Harris-Walz FL Campaign. She has served as president of the League of Women Voters of Miami Dade and Trustee of the National LWV, Chair of the Miami-Dade Commission for Women, and Community Relations Board. She holds a Masters in Public Administration and is president of Public Affairs Concepts, a communications and public outreach firm.

Essentially, let's live out the American dream for all.

Marc Burton

Why I'm running: After being elected as Miami-Dade's State Committeeman in December 2022, my first vote was to abolish my own power and democratize the FDP. As a result, Miami-Dade will now have dozens of State Committee Members instead of just two voices with heavily weighted votes. As State Committeeman, I also oversaw the FDP congressional district caucuses for CD 24 and 26, and helped plan the caucuses for CD 27 and 28. I served as FDP Rules Committee Vice Chair and Acting Chair, which resulted in a new rule that allowed the DEC to share in more candidate filing fees, bringing more than $80,000 to the DEC in 2024. As DEC Rules Committee Chair, I oversaw broad amendments to the DEC Bylaws in 2024. I served on the DNC Convention Rules Committee and recruited Democrats to found the Greater Aventura Democratic Club during my tenure as State Committeeman as well. Finally, I continued in my role on the Harris/Coordinated Campaign's statewide voter protection steering committee and lead voter protection counsel for Miami-Dade County, after having previously served as statewide voter protection director. I am now running for State Committeeman once again in order to continue to work to heal the Democratic Party in Miami-Dade and Florida, but with about 1/20th of the voting power I had for the last two years. Giving power to so many new voices at the State Executive Committee is one of the things of which I am proudest. I hope to serve alongside the other dedicated State Committee Members for the betterment of our shared future.

Franco Caliz-Aguilar

Why I'm running: I'm running because we need more seasoned political operatives in leadership who don't want contracts from the DEC/FDP but just want to win. I can focus on culturally competent strategies that best benefits and work with the communities we need to turnout to win. A.C. Castillo

Why I am running: We must rebuild the communication between the Democratic Party and unionized workers. As a union member, I’ve seen firsthand how disengaged union members have become, and it’s clear that we need to rethink how we communicate and connect.

Our messaging must not only resonate but also reflect the values and concerns of union members. We must show that we’re listening and fighting for their interests. That we are aligned. My goal is to lead the effort to re-engage unionized workers, amplify their voices, and ensure that our shared vision for fair wages, workplace protections, and economic justice becomes the foundation of our collective work. We must restore the trust and solidarity that has been lost. It's unsettling that the GOP's message resonates more with union members than ours. Perception is reality, we need to rethink our approach.

Bio: Transport Workers Union Political Committee Chair. Councilman for Miami-Dade Area 11.

Kevin Cho Tipton

Why I'm running: "After deploying to the Middle East — joining thousands of Soldiers and Airmen following the most recent crisis — I was reminded how much we share and that it truly gets down to the basics. As I did during the pandemic, I believe the best way that we can share the message and vision that we have for our country is by taking action, not just through advocacy, but through our work. By serving our communities every day and showing up to help fix the kitchen table issues like access to healthcare and cost of living, this is how we change and save lives. I’m running in the hopes to reinforce this perspective and to prove that we can walk this path together."

Bio: "For more than a decade, I have served in our communities as a nurse and our country in the military. Immigrating here as an infant through adoption has offered me the perspective shared by so many — that America can and must be better for those that seek a second chance like us. A graduate and product of Florida’s public schools, colleges, and universities, I am a doctoral candidate at the University of Florida dedicated to giving back and uplifting our neighbors who need our support the most. Since the Obama Campaigns, I have also spent years working for and volunteering on the ground — especially focusing on state legislative races. My advocacy has also taken me to Washington where I became the first Asian (along with a fellow awardee) and first openly LGBTQ American to receive the United States Surgeon General’s Medallion for service in Public Health."

Justin Alexander Clarke

Why I'm running: I often say, "Obama got me interested in politics, but Trump got me activated." After Trump’s second win and Florida’s sharp turn to the right, I felt compelled to step up and make a difference. I’ve been part of winning campaigns and understand the strategy and dedication it takes to succeed. Conversely, I’ve witnessed campaigns that fell short and have identified clear gaps in execution. As a State Committee Member, I want to help transform good candidates into great ones, ensuring they have the tools, messaging, and grassroots support to inspire voters and build a stronger Democratic future in Florida.

Bio: Justin Clarke is a second-generation Chinese-Jamaican American whose upbringing in his family’s Jamaican grocery business instilled a strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. While earning a degree in Business Administration with a focus on Finance from FAU, Justin balanced academics with family responsibilities and even launched a pop-up gallery during Miami Art Basel. Now a licensed Florida real estate agent, he specializes in design-focused properties. Justin has volunteered on several campaigns including his wife’s two successful campaigns for the Miami-Dade School Board.

I am committed to creating solutions that uplift working families, invest in public education, and ensure our communities thrive. Together, we can build a stronger, more equitable future.

Bio: I’m a proud member of the DEC and former president of the Miami-Beach Democratic Club.

Joseph Geller

Why I'm running: I am a lifelong progressive Democratic activist. I have served on the State Executive Committee on and off for many years. I am excited by the opportunity to help revitalize our party in Florida as we prepare for critical elections in 2026. We must recalibrate our efforts to properly learn and implement the lessons of 2024. Serving on the State Executive Committee would allow me an increased voice in choosing our new leadership, and in choosing our direction forward from this low point. I look forward to being a voice in making these vital decisions.

Bio: I’m a newly elected school board member and a former State Rep and Mayor. I’m a former Chair of the Miami-Dade DEC and a former DNC member. I have been on the Miami-Dade DEC mostly continuously for 40 years. I have been been a Board member and am now on the Honorary Board of the Women’s Emergency Network for many years. I have served as pro bono counsel for Movimiento Democracia for 30 years and I am the former regional president of the American Jewish Congress. I’m a partner at the law firm Greenspoon Marder practicing civil law.

Jacqueline Gil-Abarzua

Why I'm running: I am running for State Committee member to advocate for my community and address their concerns with dedication and empathy. My goal is to ensure that the voices of our residents are heard and their needs are met. I aim to strengthen our party's infrastructure by fostering collaboration and engagement among members while prioritizing diversity to bring fresh perspectives to our discussions. By integrating various viewpoints, we can create more inclusive solutions that reflect the values of our community. Together, we can build a stronger, more responsive party that effectively champions the interests of all our constituents.

Manuel Ernesto Gutierrez

Why I'm running: I am running for Committeeman to champion the transformative structural change our party urgently needs. For too long, the current system has fallen short, failing Democrats across our state. It’s time to rebuild with bold vision, unwavering dedication, and a commitment to a stronger and winning future.

Bio: My name is Manuel Ernesto Gutierrez, and I bring over 12 years of expertise in political campaigns, from grassroots organizing to serving as Senior Advisor on a U.S. Senate campaign. My experience and strategic insight make me an unparalleled asset at every level of politics.

Kevin Harris

Why I'm running: I watched in horror as the results came in during this most recent election cycle. I never want to experience that feeling again. In the short term, I want to help elect Democrats at all levels of government to build a firewall against the extreme MAGA agenda and Project 2025. As we approach critical statewide elections in 2026, I'm not content with just being competitive, I want Democrats to be the frontrunners. We will win with our ideas. Let's go to where the voters are.

Bio: Kevin Harris was born and raised in South Florida, to a blue-collar family of lifelong Democrats. A product of Miami-Dade Public Schools, Kevin is a graduate of North Miami Beach Senior High (2004) and earned a degree in Business Administration from FIU in 2008. His guiding principles are selflessness and service. After the untimely death of his older sister in 2011, Kevin dedicated his life to public service. He has proudly served the Miami-Dade Police Department as a dispatcher since July 2012. After caring for ailing relatives as an adult, Kevin is a relentless advocate for universal healthcare. His ultimate goal is to serve in Congress (was a candidate in the 2022 election cycle) and is ready to work to elect good Democrats at every level of government.

Phyllis Harris

Why I'm running: As a lifelong Democrat I want us to WIN. It is my wish after this last election to get back our democratic roots in Miami Dade and the entire state. I am willing to work and do whatever it takes to make that happen. My skills and proven record of working for the Democratic Party are the reasons why I am running for Committee Woman.

Bio: I have worked on various campaigns sinc 2012 and learned to organize directly from the Obama field organizers. At the time of that campaign I organized a group called Aventura, Golden Besch Dems. We had great success by doing voter registration, phone banks and canvassing. A few years ago I was asked to organize a senior caucus. We created THE Miami Dens Senior Caucus. We now have 532 members and growing. We have Registered voters at many venues consistently every week for the last two years with the permission and help from the venues. It has taken great organization and hard work plus volunteers who are dedicated and hard and skilled workers. As a coalition we have sent out 30,000 postcards and 60,000 texts for one candidate and have helped many more candidates since. And still going strong.

Millie Herrera

Why I'm running: I’ll continue to support and assist the Miami-Dade DEC to be an effective organization and represent its interests on the FDP Executive Committee. I bring institutional knowledge since 1997 on the FDP Central and Executive Committees to our delegation. We need to communicate, motivate, register to vote, and GOTV Democrats like never before, in language and in culture, to ensure we continue to live in a democracy. We need to be present in all communities and understand that diversity is what makes us strong. I’ll be a strong voice in mainstream and Spanish media to ensure all communities are heard.

Bio: I’m a lifelong Cuban-American Democrat, Miami-Dade DEC member since 1995 and First Vice Chair since April 2024. Founded the Miami-Dade Democratic Hispanic Caucus chapter in 1997, President of the Florida DHCF from 2000-2004 and 2007-2008, and DNC delegate since 2000. In 2012, President Obama appointed me to the U.S. Department of Labor. I served on the Kendall Community Council 12 from 2003 to 2006, a volunteer Miami-Dade Guardian Ad Litem from 2003-2012, completed the Harvard J.F.K. School Public Policy program in 2004, lead an IT and business consulting company since 2001, and am a national and local media political analyst.

Ericka Holmes

Why I'm running: I have been a registered democrat for 36 years. I love my party and respect the ideas my party as a whole have accomplished and tried to accomplish for the greater good. However, my party is in need of restructuring and a fresh perspective as it relates to the entire process of being an active party before the voting season. I’m choosing to run for state committee because I see the major need for change in my party with the lack of communication, or lack of information being disseminated in a timely manner to running candidates as well as genuine help being reached out to all candidates running. I’m running because I’m tired of sitting on the sidelines complaining about what I see not being done or ideas that could be incorporated to ensure small successes in the Democratic Party. I want to effect progressive change, which is achievable one mission at a time. Change in the Democratic Party is inevitable and well past due.

Bio: My name is Ericka Holmes. I was born and raised in Miami, Florida. I attended and graduated from Miami Northwestern Sr. High School. I attained an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Miami Dade North Community College and a Bachelors degree in Public Administration from Barry University. I’m a retired law enforcement officer of 28 1/2years with the City of Miami Police Department. I’m a proud mother of one (son) and a grandmother of two beautiful human beings.

Macarena "Maca" Iglesias

Why I'm running: As a staunch Democrat proud to uphold our shared values and principles, I am fully committed to rebuilding our Party, engaging our diverse communities, and electing Democrats at the local, state, and national levels. My international background, long-term residency in the County, bilingual fluency, and experience and expertise in organizing and communications have provided me the tools to bridge the gap between local Democrats and FDP policymakers and impact decision-making. If elected as a State Committee Member, I will be an active listener and independent thinker, laser-focused on efforts to unite Democrats, win elections, and protect and advance democracy.

Bio: A completely bilingual (English and Spanish) resident of Miami since childhood, I have parlayed my international educational background (Chile and the Netherlands) and digital communications expertise into effective service on behalf of the Democratic Party at all levels. My involvement began with the 2008 Clinton campaign, included work on the Obama campaign, the Biden campaign, and the 2022 FDP coordinated campaign, and now includes a leadership role (Communications Chair) with the Democratic Hispanic Caucus of FL and Miami-Dade. Elected as a 2024 DNC Delegate, and recipient of a “Champion for Change” award at the Blue Gala, I count myself as a True Blue Democrat.

Bruce Jacobs

Why I'm running: I went to one state committee meeting and saw the power in bringing the party together. I saw the path to making change. We need a party that counters the republican narrative all your problems come from illegal immigrants and single mothers on welfare. The problem comes from corporations and billionaires capturing the government. The problem comes when there are no checks and balances. It comes when people believe the government is broken and not there to help. We need to sell a product the people want to buy. It’s time for a new path and I believe being on the state committee is that path.

Bio: In 2016 I was a Bernie Sanders Delegate at the DNC and then joined the Miami-Dade DEC. I was a lawyer fighting foreclosures trying to expose corruption in the courts. I filed federal whistleblower and RICO cases against the largest banks in the nation to expose those frauds. I lost my bar license in retaliation for exercising my First Amendment right to speak out for my clients losing their homes without due process. I believe the Party needs to be a check and balance to big corporate interests. My wife Michelle is an acupuncturist and we have 4 children. I am a scoutmaster for Coral Gables Troop 719. My wife runs the scouting program. My oldest son is an Eagle Scout and the rest are on their way. Looking to contribute in a meaningful way in the world.

Stanley Jean-Poix

Why I'm running: In 2024, I ran for the Florida House of Representatives District 110. Unfortunately, I lost my election. However, that did not discourage me. My loss only fueled me to be more involved in my party. I agree with the values of the Democratic Party. I believe the Democratic party's policies are good for Florida, Miami-Dade County and local cities. Also, I want the opportunity to influence policy choices. I want to advance the party's values, which is more effective by working from within.

Bio: I was born in Manhattan, New York, son of Haitian immigrants. I completed my elementary and high school education in New York City. The family relocated to Miami, Florida in 1988. I earned an Associates degree in Criminal Justice from Miami-Dade College. Afterwards, I went on and earned a Bachelor's degree in International Affairs from Florida State University. Upon returning to Miami, I became a police officer with the City of Miami Police Department, where I retired after serving twenty five years of honorable service.

Dr Bernard Wh Jennings

Why I'm running: I'm running for State Committeeman because we as a community are victimized year after year and their is a sentiment that we are ignored by national and state leadership. We demand strict accountability and an outside audit of all expenditures. And moving forward we will demand a strict division of funding and resources based on an apportionment of the voting citizenry. It always comes down to how much each vote costs in an election cycle. Not what we pay for the vote but what we spend to obtain the vote. I.e. we have the voter file, we should determine how much our budget is and divide that number by each vote. Then divide the votes into demographics based on an ethnic constituency count. At that point we will fairly let the chips fall where they may. We should allow our clubs and causes and District Leaders to make decisions about spending based on their proportionality of voters within their bases. That way those who have worked to organize for four years have the opportunity to put their built organizations to work. I want to be a catalyst for successful change; an ombudsman to bring all facets of the party together, Clubs & Caucuses, Blacks & Whites, Hispanics & Haitians, Jews & Muslims, Asians & Caribbean's, haves and have nots. Short and Tall democrats alike.

Bio: Dr. Bernard Wh Jennings is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator & holds a Loss Mitigation Specialist certificate from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development & has worked in the Mortgage Banking industry for more than 10 years. He served as an Administrative Hearing Officer to the Miami-Dade County Manager to arbitrate disputes arising from Ordinance 99-44. His business experiences range from airport development to construction management, he successfully negotiated one of the largest private commercial aviation leaseholds & development contracts in Miami-Dade at Opa-Locka Airport. He served as a Mediator for the Collins Center for Public Policy Managed Foreclosure Mediation Program, American Arbitration Association & he is a mediator for the Florida Department of Financial Services Mediation Program. He has performed Business Arbitration & Debt Negotiation for many years. Dr Jennings is the Founder & President of the Biscayne Gardens Chamber of Commerce. Why I'm running: I am running for state committeeperson because the Florida Democratic Party -- wherewith I have been involved for many years — must evolve. I seek to collaborate with the FDP chair to resolve the problems our now-endangered party faces. While I have voiced concerns to party leaders throughout the years, my words would ring hollow without action. The hour of change is upon us — we must seize it.

Jackie Kellogg

Why I'm running: My interest in pursuing being elected statesman is to advocate for the well-being of our constituency and to work with other Democrats to build stronger party.

Bio: As a resident of Miami since childhood, and a long-time community advocate accustomed to working with government officials, the non-profit sector, and local stakeholders, I have a track record of success in improving the well-being of residents of CD 27. As a mother and a PTA leader keenly interested in the availability of high-quality public education, I fought for the establishment of a neighborhood high school option on Key Biscayne and for effective parental engagement from Coral Gables to the urban core. As a youth sports enthusiast, I founded the Youth Soccer League on Key Biscayne. As an environmental educator, I have partnered with luminaries like Xavier Cortada to teach children of all abilities about sustainability practices and acquaint them with the beauty, wonder, and fragility of our natural surroundings. Each of these roles has strengthened my appreciation for my fellow residents and my interest in seeking locally-driven, workable solutions derived through dialogue, compromise, and mutual respect for others.

Susan Khoury

Why I'm running: As a former candidate for Miami-Dade County Sheriff, I believe that DEC must begin to rebuild the organization structure in-house and with the community. My experience as a candidate provided me with the knowledge of some of the necessary information needed to be part of the rebuilding structure in-house and with the residents in Miami-Dade County. I believe I will be an asset to the DEC leadership by providing them with the knowledge and experience I gained from my candidacy for Miami-Dade County Sheriff.

Amanda Knapp

Why I'm running: As someone raised in a household with two Democratic elected officials, my journey in Democratic activism began at an early age, instilling in me a deep understanding of the importance of civic engagement and public service. This foundation led me to serve as Secretary of the Miami-Dade Young Democrats, where I worked to mobilize young voters and amplify progressive values. In 2017, I co-founded the Miami Beach Democratic Club, a proud accomplishment that has grown into one of the most organized and active Democratic clubs in the county. Today, I serve as its President, leading with vision and dedication to expand Democratic influence. Building on the success and structure of the Miami Beach Democratic Club, I am eager to apply my organizational skills to help the Democratic Executive Committee (DEC) restructure and strengthen its foundation. By fostering collaboration and creating a more cohesive and efficient operation, I aim to ensure the DEC is better positioned to engage voters and achieve electoral success. Turning Miami Beach, Miami-Dade County, and the state of Florida blue again is my unwavering goal. With a lifetime of exposure to Democratic leadership, community organizing experience, and a proven track record of leadership, I am eager to lead efforts that will strengthen the party's foundation, energize our voter base, and secure victories at every level. Together, we can build a brighter, more equitable future for Florida.

Richard Lamondin

Why I'm running: I'm running to bring proven leadership and fresh energy to our party. As an organizer, I helped build a Democratic club (the Downtown Dems) that brought new voices into our movement, hosted Hillary Clinton, and powered Eileen Higgins' first successful campaign. As a sustainability CEO whose company made the Inc 100 fastest-growing list twice, I specialize in setting strategic directions that get results, and in uniting diverse groups behind common goals (many of my clients lean conservative). I'll apply these skills to help strengthen our party and expand our coalition across Florida.

During his tenure, the club grew to be one of the most successful in South Florida.

Nancy Lawther

Why I'm running: I am seeking reelection as a State Committee Member because as current State Committeewoman, I have both the knowledge and experience not only to faithfully carry out the duties of the office, but to offer guidance to the dozens of new Members we will be selecting. I am familiar with every last detail of the club certification process; I have sweated over the logistics of holding DNC Delegate elections; I have dealt with FDP’s unwieldy infrastructure, factional conflicts, and outsized personalities. My most significant contribution will thus be as a mentor to the next generation of DEC leaders.

Bio: A lifelong Democrat, Pennsylvania native, and enthusiastic polyglot, I set my roots in Miami-Dade County 34 years ago. Ever since, I have devoted myself to serving our community across multiple domains: education (post-secondary, adult, K-12), non-profit leadership (County and Florida PTA, Children’s Trust, Gun Violence Prevention Coalition), and, since 2019, dedicated DEC involvement. Elected in December 2021 as State Committeewoman, I have vastly increased the number of our certified clubs, run successful DNC Delegate elections, worked to pass comprehensive bylaws reform, and broken new ground through initiatives to train first-time candidates and encourage DEC members to run for Community Council.

Bio: Jimmy Mauris is a Owner of Hawk Security Service with 10 years of experience.. helping the community to stay safe and providing jobs. Specializing in Security protection on commercial property and events.

Wendy Mendoza

Why I'm running: I am a lifelong democrat, my grandmother was a democrat and my children are democrats. I believe in the ideals of the party but the last 10 years I feel that the leadership has stopped listening to the average person, and we need to start listening. I want to be part of the revival of the party, the New Democratic Party. I want there to be people who care more about the work then about the title, I want to get ready to work and what better way than to become a state committee member and have a say in how the party moves in a new direction.

Bio: I emigrated to the United States more than 50 years ago from Colombia. I and my immediate family came to this country and built amazing lives here, from my uncle, aunt and cousins serving in the armed forces to my daughter working on capital hill. I owe a great debt to this wonderful land for the amazing opportunities it has given me and my family. I raised a family of three in Miami, started a small business and have lived in the same wonderful neighborhood for more than 25 years. I am the American dream and I think the Democratic Party provides the best road map to achieving that dream.

Sandy Moise

With years of dedication to the Democratic Party, I have actively supported multiple candidates, contributing to grassroots campaigns and community outreach. I believe in energizing voters by fostering inclusive conversations, leveraging modern strategies, and building stronger connections between the party and our communities. Now, Sandy channels her dedication into creating urban habitats for wildlife and advocating for conservation. She serves on the South Florida Outward Bound Board and as Director of Policy for the Urban Paradise Guild.

Angel Emmanuel Montalvo

Why I'm running: The Democratic Party must become the party of workers, not the wealthy elite. For too long, both major parties have catered to the richest Americans while inequality crushes working families. Decisions like Citizens United have turned our democracy into a marketplace for billionaires. As State Committeeman, I will work to transform the party by building an infrastructure driven by small-dollar donations, volunteer power, and grassroots organizing. By centering the struggles of workers and poor communities, we can make the Democratic Party a true vehicle for justice, dignity, and equality.

Bio: Angel Montalvo, a lifelong Miami-Dade resident, is President of the People’s Progressive Caucus of Miami-Dade and a former congressional candidate for Florida’s 27th District. He has led grassroots organizing efforts to build progressive coalitions, empower precinct-level leadership, and engage voters. The son of Cuban and Honduran immigrants, Angel is committed to ensuring the Democratic Party reflects the voices of working-class families and marginalized communities. With a focus on Medicare for All, environmental justice, and workers’ rights, Angel’s leadership reflects a deep dedication to equity, inclusion, and transformative change.

Frank Morra

Why I'm running: I have been active in Miami-Dade County politics for several decades. I have been a volunteer on numerous campaigns during this time period. I want to be a part of the decision making process going forward.

Bio: I am a native of Miami-Dade County. I was born in 1957. I graduated from Christopher Columbus High School. I attended Stetson University. I graduated from Florida International University in 1983 with a B A. degree in Political Science.

Jane Moscowitz

Why I'm running: I want to be a state committee person to help our Party become competitive in this state again. To do so, we have to begin now, not three months before the next election. We have to understand why so many Democrats stayed home and why there is so much resentment, and we must figure out how to communicate our values better. We need to support candidates for local elections, who then run for higher office. While I don’t like loyalty oaths, I believe in loyalty to our values and our candidates.

Bio: Professionally, I am/was a white-collar criminal defense lawyer. After graduating from Harvard Law School ( I was a computer programmer before law school), I was a federal prosecutor for ten years. I tried over 75 federal jury trials. Personally, I’ve been married for 55 (!) years. We came here in 1982 and have 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren. Politically, I am Co-Chair of Voter Protection, which just fielded several hundred poll watchers, cured several hundred ballots, and monitored the Canvassing Board. I am also VP of CG Dems, whose 150+ members volunteered tirelessly. I run our programming, and I prepare the lists for canvassing, texting, etc.

College Democrats, I’ve spent years fighting for change and empowering young leaders. Gen Z is the future, and our voices deserve a seat at every level of the Democratic Party. Together, we can build a party that rereflects our generation’s priorities, energy, and commitment to creating a better future for Florida.

Jeffrey Ronci

Why I'm running: We Democrats and allies must break the GOP’s stranglehold on our state governance. In my 35 years (1983-2018) as a Miami-Dade County Public Schools communication and community-engagement administrator, I promoted free, high-quality, public education for all students, even as Tallahassee Republicans worked to dismantle Florida’s public schools. Now, I continue to push progressive policies, as the GOP systemically demonizes and disempowers Florida’s most disadvantaged. This, plus Miami-Dade’s rightward shift, cannot go unchecked, especially as the Trump regime retakes Washington. Democrats at every level must regain parity, at least, and eventual advantage in securing our common future. And I must help.

Bio: A lifelong Miamian, I registered as a Democrat as soon as I could (1979) and have been active in supporting Democratic candidates and causes since. Though never involved in the local party's governance, I (most often with my husband) have hosted and co-hosted meet-and-greet, fundraising, and GOTV events (often in our home) for a dozen or so candidates and various ballot initiatives over the years. Highlights: Captain of two precincts for John Kerry 2004; with husband, one of five couples to sue the state to strike anti-same-sex-marriage constitutional amendment referendum from ballot; board member for progressive state and local organizations.

Sandra Ruiz

Why I'm running: As a dedicated advocate for my community, I aspire to become a State Committee-person to ensure that our collective voice is heard and represented in shaping the policies that impact our daily lives. This position offers the opportunity to influence critical decisions, promote transparency, and strengthen the connection between residents and state leadership. I am committed to fostering collaboration, addressing key issues, and driving initiatives that reflect our shared values. By serving in this role, I aim to be a proactive bridge between the community and the state, championing progress and equity for all.

Bio: Sandra Ruiz: A Pioneering Leader in Doral. Sandra Ruiz made history in 2003 as the first woman elected to Doral’s inaugural City Council, playing a vital role in shaping the newly incorporated city. Serving until 2016, Ruiz championed infrastructure improvements, public safety, and sustainable development during a period of rapid growth. Her leadership helped establish Doral as a vibrant, family-friendly community with a thriving economy. A dedicated advocate for residents and local businesses, Ruiz's efforts enhanced parks, city services, and quality of life. Retiring in 2016, she left a lasting legacy as a trailblazer in Doral's history and a key figure in its success.

Bio: Dedicated local advocate with 13+ years living in Miami-Dade.

Sardebra Wright

Why I'm running:  I believe in solutions and truth. I have never been able to put up with bullies and I don’t back down from them. When I retired, I pivoted to financial services and while learning how money works, I also learned how to listen to people. I think the Democratic Party is afraid to adapt. We stick with the old, thinking it’s tried and true, and ignoring the fact that it’s old. We have to find a way to represent all of the people and I want to be a part of that coalition of ideas and solutions. I think we need to understand that it’s not this group or that group, but all of us working together. I have been blessed to have the perspective of several groups; I’m an Evangelical Believer, African American, disabled, and a happy senior. I know that working with the right people will make a difference. We have to start now, not later to introduce our candidates to the public. We also have to educate the public and stop assuming they know about the voting process. We have work to do.
