Marcos Reyes for Florida House District 115: Putting Families Before Politics

We proudly endorse Marcos Reyes for Florida House District 115, supporting a lifelong Miami-Dade resident, small business owner, and community leader who understands the challenges facing working families.

As housing costs, property insurance premiums, and everyday expenses continue to strain household budgets, Reyes believes Tallahassee needs to focus less on partisan politics and more on delivering practical solutions.

A Voice for Working Families

The son of Cuban immigrants, including a former political prisoner, Marcos Reyes (also known as Marco) grew up in a working-class Miami-Dade family with a deep appreciation for freedom, democracy, and opportunity.

With more than 25 years of professional experience, Reyes has built a career in business and community service. As President of the Kendall Democratic Club, he has worked to strengthen civic engagement and advocate for the needs of local residents.

A husband and father of four daughters, Reyes understands the importance of building a Florida where families can afford to live, children can receive a quality education, and individual freedoms are protected.

His priorities include lowering housing and insurance costs, providing property tax relief, holding insurance companies accountable, strengthening public education, and protecting reproductive rights.

District 115 and the Affordability Challenge

Incumbent Republican Omar Blanco was elected in 2024, but affordability remains a major challenge for District 115 families. High housing costs, insurance premiums, and everyday expenses continue to place pressure on household budgets.

Reyes is running on a platform focused on these concerns, emphasizing practical solutions that can make a meaningful difference for families and small businesses across the district.

The Balance of Power in Tallahassee

The District 115 election also has implications beyond the district itself. With David Jolly running for governor, Florida's legislative races will help determine the balance of power between the governor's office and the Legislature.

Republicans currently hold a supermajority in the Florida House. Under the Florida Constitution, lawmakers can override a governor's veto with a two-thirds vote in both chambers.

If Jolly wins the governorship, the composition of the Legislature will help determine his administration's ability to advance its priorities and protect its vetoes. The election between Marcos Reyes and Omar Blanco is one of the House contests that will shape that balance.

Putting People Over Politics

Reyes believes that solving Florida's challenges requires cooperation, accountability, and a willingness to put residents ahead of partisan interests.

His commitment is to fight for a more affordable Florida, better schools, stronger communities, and a government that listens to everyday Floridians.

The Miami-Dade Democratic Party endorses Marcos Reyes for Florida House District 115, citing his commitment to affordability, public education, individual freedoms, and the needs of South Florida families.

On November 3, voters in District 115 will choose their next representative in the Florida House.
