UPDATED: Election Day is Tuesday, June 19
From city councils to mayoral offices, Republicans have effectively kept progressive voices suppressed in South Florida local government. The consequences have been dire: investments in public transportation have not kept pace with our growing population, funding for affordable housing has been minimal, and environmental protection has taken a back seat to development. However, we now have a chance to bring bold, progressive leadership to the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners, by electing Eileen Higgins in District 5.

(Tuesday, June 19 between 7AM and 7PM)
Eileen Higgins has a track record of fighting for ordinary people and wants to be a champion for progressives on the commission. She is the former president of the Downtown Democrats and has had a remarkable career in both the private and public sectors. Her vision for Miami-Dade County is one that includes a reliable public transportation system, smart affordable housing programs, and protected natural resources.
Eileen wants to represent District 5, which encompasses Little Havana, parts of Miami Beach, Downtown, Brickell, The Roads, Silver Bluff, and Shenandoah.
The future of Miami-Dade is in your hands, but we need more people to pay attention.
