"Where is Carlos?" Gimenez Hides From Debates in English and Spanish

12 Days After Mucarsel-Powell Accepts 3 Debates, Gimenez Refuses to Accept Them

MIAMI — Nearly two weeks after Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell accepted three invitations to debate (two in Spanish, one in English), Carlos Gimenez has been in hiding.

Twelve days after Rep. Mucarsel-Powell accepted debates with CBS Miami, Radio Actualidad, and Telemundo 51 Miami, Carlos Gimenez is refusing to agree to any of these debates and is sidelining the Spanish-speaking voters in Florida’s 26th Congressional District.

It's official: Carlos Gimenez is hiding from the voters.

Not only is Gimenez refusing to accept debates, but Doug Hanks of the Miami Herald writes that "the office of @MayorGimenez no longer releases his schedule."

“Carlos Gimenez is hiding from the voters because he knows he can't defend his record of corruption and widespread disease. Carlos Gimenez refuses to face the voters and explain himself. Just as bad, despite running for Congress in a community in which a majority of voters speak Spanish, Gimenez won't even agree to a single debate in Spanish,” said Miami-Dade Democratic Party Chair Steve Simeonidis. “Where are you, Carlos? Why won’t you debate?”

Or, as Donald Trump put it just the other week...
