Statement from the Miami-Dade Democratic Party regarding the Capitol riot and attempted coup

The Miami-Dade Democratic Party stands in support of the invocation of the 25th amendment, impeachment, or any other actions of constitutional justice to ensure Donald Trump can no longer put our country in danger. We urge Mario Diaz-Balart, Rick Scott, Marco Rubio, and Carlos Giménez to step down immediately for being complicit in the attempted coup.

En español: Declaración del Partido Demócrata de Miami-Dade sobre el amotinamiento en el Capitolio y el intento de golpe de estado

We support Joe Biden and our federal, state and local Miami-Dade officials in all they are doing to stand up for honor, integrity and justice in and through our government as we move toward healing.

We recognize that over half a million voters in Miami-Dade voted for Donald Trump this past November. We want to hear more and understand the issues that motivated them to support a president who has so often used his voice to divide us. We believe Democratic Party values benefit all Americans, creating opportunity for more to succeed, and we hope to demonstrate this over the next four years led by Joe Biden at a national level, and Daniella Levine-Cava at the county. Now, more than ever, we must work together to solve the many problems that we will face in the times ahead.

Call to action 🇺🇸✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿🇺🇸

There is still hope that Republicans representing Miami-Dade in Congress will do the right thing and vote to impeach Trump. Keep their phones busy...

District 27: Maria Elvira Salazar
(202) 225-3931
(305) 668-2285

District 26: Carlos Giménez
(202) 225-2778

District 25: Mario Díaz-Balart
(202) 225-8576

We also need people to call conservative radio talk shows and express their thoughts. We must get out of our bubbles and remind those who voted for Trump about the dangers of his demagoguery.

Miami-Dade Democratic Party Condemns Congressman Diaz-Balart for his Attempts to Subvert Democracy and Overturn an American Election

MIAMI-DADE, FL: After Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R, FL-25) signed an amicus brief joining Texas’s lawsuit that seeks to overturn the 2020 election in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, the Miami-Dade Democratic Party condemned his actions as frivolous and anti-democratic.

Miami-Dade Democratic Party Chair Steve Simeonidis issued the following statement:

“Congressman Diaz-Balart should stay focused on his job representing the people of Miami-Dade in Congress, and help pass direct payments to families in his district affected by the health and economic crisis of COVID-19. It is an embarrassment to the State of Florida that he and Attorney General Ashley Moody would waste taxpayer dollars on this frivolous lawsuit.”

The President of the Miami-Dade Cuban American Club, Horacio Sierra, added the following statement:

“We wish that Congressman Diaz-Balart, who is such a stalwart champion of democracy in Cuba, would stop trying to subvert democracy in the United States. His hypocrisy is galling.”
