Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2021 - Volunteer in Miami-Dade

As Democrats, we believe that everyone belongs in the "beloved community" that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dreamed about. Service to others is one of the ways that we make that dream into a reality—that's why we want to share the following volunteer opportunities to honor the life and legacy of Dr. King.

Monday, January 18

The City of Miami Gardens and Councilman Robert Stephens, III will hold an MLK Day of Service on Monday, January 18th from 10AM to 1PM. Mask, gloves, and lunch will be provided to volunteers. For more information or to volunteer, text 305-733-6922.

Camillus House will hold their own Day of Service on Monday, January 18th from 11AM to 2PM, giving away care packages to the homeless in downtown Miami. Volunteers can (but are not required to) bring items such as canned soup, canned meat, fingernail clippers and clothing. Meet across the street from Camillus House (1603 NW 7th Ave).

Friday, January 22nd

On Friday, January 22nd at 1PM Mothers Fighting for Justice and the Miami Dolphins Foundation will conduct their Drive-Thru Food Relief Program. Please call Romania Dukes at 850-901-1553 to volunteer.

From Outreach Vice Chair, Robert Dempster:

Dr. King preached a powerful message of hope for a more just world, and I hope that you'll join me next week in service to bring us closer to realizing his vision. When you do, remember to tag the Miami-Dade Dems on social media so that we can recognize all of you who make our party great!
