July 23, 2014

Last Thursday, Annette Taddeo-Goldstein joined Charlie Crist as his running mate on the People's Ticket. That same day she informed us that she will be stepping down as Chair of the Miami-Dade Democratic Party. We are very grateful for her leadership during the last year and a half. She made this party stronger than ever. We know she will continue fighting us and all Floridians as Lieutenant Governor.

Therefore, we are convening a meeting of the Miami-Dade Democratic Executive Committee to elect a new Chair on Thursday, August 7th, 2014 at the American Legion located at 6445 NE 7th Ave, Miami, FL 33138. The doors will open at 6:00pm for a mix and mingle, and the meeting will start promptly at 7:00pm.

What: DEC meeting to elect a Chair
When: Thur 8/7/14 at 7pm

Candidates for Chair

A message from Senator Dwight Bullard, DEC Area 10 Chair and steering committee member

subject: My letter of intent to run for Chair of the Miami-Dade DEC. Can I count on your support?

First, I would like to thank our former Chairwoman Annette Taddeo-Goldstein for her leadership during the last two years at the helm of our local DEC. Under her leadership we have made tremendous strides. I couldn't be happier for her in her selection as a running mate for Gov. Crist. As a lifelong progressive Democrat and and stalwart in South Florida, we know she will do an amazing job fighting for all of us.dwight-official.jpg

I recently met with Annette. She asked me if I'd be willing to step up and lead the party. I agreed. With her support and the support of many DEC leaders who called and encouraged me to run, I know we can unite around a common goal: sending Rick Scott home and taking back Tallahassee. I know, as many of you do that our task after the August 26th Primary is one that we have to approach with a linear focus to Save Our State.

We have suffered through four years of Rick Scott's bad policies and misguided priorities, and we can not afford a day more. I have personally witnessed the damage he has done to our public education system, our civil rights, and the many missed opportunities to do the right thing like expand Medicaid, raise the minimum wage or pass equal pay for women.

I have fought for you in Tallahassee for the past six years, and it will be my honor to to fight along with you as Chair of the Miami-Dade Democratic Party.

The election will be held on Thursday, August 7th at 7pm at the American Legion located at 6445 NE 7th Ave, Miami, FL 33138. I'll see you there.
