Dr. Eduardo Padrón, Monica Russo, and Dr. Larry Pierre among honorees at 2019 Blue Gala

The Blue Gala / Blue Bash taking place in Miami Beach on Saturday, November 2nd. We have been busy ramping up so that we can turnout an additional 200K Democratic voters locally in 2020. This build out of the team depends on funding. If you are able to join us for the full evening, including reception and dinner, tickets start at $500. We have also worked to provide a more affordable option at $75 which will give you the chance to hear the main speakers and be part of the award ceremony for our 2019 Blue Gala honorees, starting at 9pm. This ticket also includes open bar and dessert.

Dr. Eduardo J. Padrón
Former Miami Dade College President and Presidential Medal of Freedom Winner
During his distinguished tenure, Dr. Padrón led Miami Dade College to become a nationally renowned institution serving as President from 1995 to 2019. A graduate of Miami’s public school system, our city has been blessed by Dr. Padrón’s life’s work to enlarge and enrich access to high quality public education. 

Monica Russo
Founder of 1199SEIU Florida
Recognized for having led the most successful private sector healthcare union organizing campaign in the southeastern United States. Under her leadership, a small band of certified nurses’ aides has grown to represent more than 35,000 active and retired healthcare workers in more than 100 hospitals and nursing homes across the state. Monica also serves as EVP of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East - the largest healthcare union in the country representing more than 400,000 healthcare workers in five states and DC. 

Dr. Larry Pierre
Founder and Executive Director of the Center for Haitian Studies
Dr. Pierre has raised over $40 million for the Haitian community of South Florida, especially focused on public health and reducing HIV/AIDS. Elected as President of Haitian Democratic Caucus in 2012 and a Trustee of the Florida Democratic Party in 2012. Dr. Pierre was a prominent advocate for President Obama, Senator Bill Nelson, and Mayor Andrew Gillum.

Jason Pizzo
Florida State Senator for District 38
A strong advocate for gun safety, climate resiliency, and a living wage. In 2019, Senator Pizzo sponsored the Dignity for Incarcerated Women Act, providing feminine hygiene products and increased protection for women who are incarcerated. Senator Pizzo has also been a champion for LGBT equality, including housing and workplace protections that do not exist in Florida. 

Cindy Polo
Florida State Representative for District 103
The Parkland shooting produced a fearless activist and first-time legislator. After being outspent by the opposition 5:1 in a previous GOP stronghold of Hialeah and Miami Lakes, Rep. Polo has become one of the boldest and most outspoken members of the delegation as a representative, especially on gun reform, immigration and anti-fracking.

Romainia Dukes 
Founder of Mothers Fighting for Justice
Romainia Dukes formed Mothers Fighting for Justice in 2016 after her son De'Michael was shot and killed by a stray bullet while sitting on a rail in Cutler Bay. Mothers Fighting for Justice works closely with our local communities to stem gun violence.

MJ Wright
Moms Demand Action activist
MJ Wright lost her son, Jerald Wright, at the 2016 Pulse shooting in in Orlando. Deeply involved in gun reform and gun violence work, MJ is a staunch activist supporting statewide campaigns with Moms Demand Action.
