We wholeheartedly support the will of the Venezuelan community in their efforts to take back their country.
Don't let the President distract us with political games. Democrats believe in creating opportunity for all Americans, while right-wing Republicans and their friends at Fox News would rather divide us. Trump's attacks on the media and political opponents, and his cozying up to Russia recall the authoritarianism we witnessed in the Castro and Maduro regimes. We as Americans must not go down that path.
While we appreciate the President’s support of the Venezuela community, note that hundreds of Venezuelans seeking asylum in the U.S. have been deported under his administration. On Monday, Trump will bring his message of fear to South Florida—please join us in recognizing that immigrants make America great, and hate has no home in Miami.
