Los republicanos del estado de Florida se reúnen este miércoles en Doral para recaudar fondos en beneficio a la segunda campaña presidencial de Donald Trump. Los invitados especiales pagarán 250,000 dólares por asistir y conocer al presidente Trump. La ironía es que a pesar de la retórica anti-inmigrante, hacen el evento en Miami, condado donde más de la mitad de la población es inmigrante. Además, el hecho de que Trump estaría recibiendo fondos para su organización de parte de los invitados abre la pregunta sobre los ingresos y a quien le beneficia tal negocio.

Florida Republicans are holding a $250,000 per ticket fundraiser for Trump's reelection campaign this Wednesday in Doral. Once again, a Trump campaign event will be hosted at one of the President’s own properties, creating yet another situation where his supporters’ dollars are given directly to the Trump Organization.

The Miami-Dade Democratic Party is actively interviewing candidates for Executive Director. Over the past 18 months, the Miami-Dade Democratic Party has been building the volunteer framework to prepare for 2020. With roughly 600K Democrats in Florida’s most populous county, Miami-Dade plays a critical role in registering and turning out voters for the 2020 elections. With less than one year before Florida voters vote in the Primary election, this position will play a critical role in further organizing local Democrats.

In the face of rising housing costs, the executive committee of the Miami-Dade Democratic Party passed a resolution this week addressing the need for affordable housing through effective policy in the Democratic Party. While Florida Republican lawmakers voted to limit local governments’ ability to set affordable housing rules (HB 7103), local Democratic Party leaders recognize the importance of establishing a position on this critical issue that legislators should consider when drafting housing policy.
