Press Release: Press Release: Scott Continues to Marginalize Hispanic and Other Legalized Immigrants with Latest Veto
This week, Governor Rick Scott vetoed a bill that would have allowed the children of immigrants who are not U.S. citizens to use a use a new federal form to obtain temporary Florida driver licenses. Only two Florida lawmakers voted against the bill, which passed the state Senate unanimously.
"Governor Scott's veto of HB 235 is unconscionable. DREAMers are kids who came to this country through no fault of their own, and the deferred action gives them an opportunity to study, work, and prosper," said Miami-Dade Democratic Party Chair Annette Taddeo-Goldstein. "By rejecting HB 235 — after overwhelming bipartisan support for a simple piece of legislation that would have allowed hundreds of thousands of dreamers to apply for a drivers license — Governor Scott has with the swipe of a pen displayed his blatant disregard for the most basic needs of Florida's immigrants."

Comunicado de Prensa: Continúa Scott marginalizando a los hispanos y a otros inmigrantes legales con su veto más reciente
Esta semana, el Gobernador Rick Scott vetó un proyecto de ley que hubiera permitido a los hijos de inmigrantes que no son ciudadanos estadounidenses utilizar un nuevo formulario federal para obtener licencias de conducción temporales de la Florida. Solamente dos legisladores de la Florida votaron en contra del proyecto de ley, el cual fue aprobado unánimemente por el Senado estatal.
"El veto de la HB 235 por parte del Gobernador Scott's es despiadado. Los "dreamers" son muchachos que vinieron a este país sin que tuvieran culpa alguna y la acción diferida les da la oportunidad de estudiar, trabajar y prosperar. Mediante su rechazo a la HB 235, tras un apoyo bipartidista abrumador de un sencillo instrumento legislativo que hubiera permitido a cientos de miles de "dreamers" solicitar una licencia de conducción, el Gobernador Scott ha desplegado con el golpe de un plumazo su flagrante desprecio por las necesidades más básicas de los inmigrantes en la Florida", dijo la Presidenta del Partido Demócrata de Miami-Dade, Annette Taddeo-Goldstein.
