Danielle Cohen Higgins running for Miami-Dade County Commission District 8

A message from Danielle Cohen Higgins, regarding her entry into the 2020 race for Miami Dade County Commission, District 8.

"I am excited to share that I have officially filed to run for Miami-Dade County Commission District 8! South Dade is a special place to live and raise a family, but we must continue to address the challenges we face. Commissioner Levine Cava has been a forceful voice for South Dade and I want to ensure the progress achieved is not lost. We have mounting issues like the skyrocketing cost of living, a true affordability crisis, and traffic that has become a dangerous nightmare and I am ready to confront these challenges head on. We need leadership that will continue the fight to get South Dade its fair share and ensure our community’s voice is well represented on the County Commission. I am prepared to fight for us and advocate for positive changes that will lift up our entire community for generations to come. This journey cannot be done alone, and I will be calling on each of you to join me. I am excited for the next chapter in our lives and eager to serve our wonderful community."

After spending the first part of her career at the prestigious law firm of Greenberg Traurig, Danielle decided to branch out on her own and founded Cohen Law, a boutique practice with the mission and commitment of providing excellent and cost efficient legal services to small businesses and individuals in our community.

Danielle sits on the Board of Directors for the South Florida American Heart Association, serves as the Young Ambassador to the Miami Children’s Health Foundation, and works as a mentor and board member with Take Stock in Children, a local non-profit. She serves on the statewide board of Ruth’s List, a non profit organization dedicated to empowering women to run for elected office in Florida, and was also elected to sit on the largest statewide board of trial attorneys, the Florida Justice Association.

Danielle is running for County Commissioner because she is ready to continue her service to our community. South Dade is a special place to live and raise a family, but it faces many challenges. Cost of living is skyrocketing, rents are out of control, and traffic has become a dangerous nightmare. We need leadership that will fight to get South Dade its fair share and ensure our community’s voice is well represented on the County Commission. Danielle is ready to be that leader. She’s prepared to fight for us and advocate for positive changes that will lift up our entire community for generations to come.
